Ashley Bowyer to Ireland with U.S. U-23 Team

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three times in the past three years Ohio State captain Ashley Bowyer has spent a week in the spring as an invite to a United States soccer training camp to practice and compete with the best soccer players in her age group. Next week, Bowyer will take a major step beyond the training camps as she heads to Ireland to compete with the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team on its Northern Ireland and Ireland Tour.

Bowyer, and 17 other teammates, will travel to Ireland from May 11-19 where the USA will play the Women’s National Teams of the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on May 13 and Northern Ireland in Belfast on May 15.

“This is an excellent opportunity for Ashley as she is a part of a select pool of college players at the U-23 age,” Ohio State coach Lori Walker said. “These players are the future of the U.S. women's national team and the Women’s Professional Soccer League, which began play last month. more
