Palestines Shelby Alvarez Voted Most Valuable Player
Palestine's Shelby Alvarez was voted Most Valuable Player on the
All-District 35-4A girls soccer team, the league's coaches announced.
Jacksonville's Cynthia Quintana was named Defensive MVP, while Nacogdoches'
Carrie West was selected Offensive MVP.
Kaitlin Arrington of Jacksonville was tabbed Sophomore of the Year and
Marissa Salazar of Diboll was named Newcomer of the Year.

West and Castleberry Invited to U20 National Team Camp

STATION, Texas - Texas A&M freshman Beth West and soccer signee Kim
Castleberry were invited to participate in the U-20 U.S. Women's National
Team (WNT) camp April 25-May 2 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
"Everyday thousands and thousands of soccer players across America dream of
playing for the USA and representing their country in international
competition, so I'm proud of our Aggie players who have earned the
opportunity to play for the red, white and blue," A&M head soccer coach G
Guerrieri said.
West, a midfielder from Centennial, Colo., started 23 of 24 games for the
Aggies in 2008. She earned Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American and All-Central
Region honors in addition to being chosen as a member of the Big 12
All-Newcomer Team and the TopDrawerSoccer.com All-Rookie First Team. She was
an NSCAA/adidas High School All-American and a member of the U-18, U-17,
U-16 and U-15 WNT. more |
